New Horizons assists individuals with disabilities to obtain employment. Depending on individual need, services can include: Pre-Employment Profile -- Gathering information related to job strengths, interests, skills and abilities. This also includes job shadowing and other community experiences. Job Development -- Assisting the individual in finding a job that matches the individual's strengths, interests, values and needs. Assistance with resume development, making employer contacts, job carving and job restructuring and special accomodations are a part of the development process. Job Coaching -- Supporting the individual in learning the steps of the job and working with the employer in identifying and implementing needed adaptations or accomodations.. Other related supports may include identifying transportation alternatives, co-worker relations, work behaviors and assistance with money management. Follow-along -- Assisting the individual in maintaining the employment relationship. The amount and intensity of on-going assistance will depend on the needs of the individual. Activities may include monitoring of job progress, advocating for wage increases and additional responsibilities, or facilitating other community activities and connections.
